International excursion Ljubljansko Barje

On 11/05/2011 Slovenian partner LUZ dd. introduced the lead partner and three further project partner to pilot region >> Ljubljansko Barje which is an widespread marshland south of the capital Ljubljana. Additionally local actors as landscape park administration and mayors as well as a group from Saxony-Anhalt with experts from local and regional level joined the excursion.

The focus of LUZ on regional activities within the project is to moderate future landscape development between nature conservation and citizens. One central conflict is the handling of drainage ditches which are typical for Ljubljansko Barje. Nature conservation wants the protected areas to be left untouched meaning that ditches would be overgrown which might lead to floods that endanger several villages.
