The project application was approved in December 2009 and a few further adjustments were made by February 2010. For the project partners the intensive implementation phase began in April 2010. Within the scope of the Central Europe Programme the project partners intend to make a contribution to the sustainable development of vital cultural landscapes in Central Europe by applying innovative participation and visualization techniques. The Lead Partner, Landgesellschaft Sachsen-Anhalt (Land Company Saxony-Anhalt), is responsible for the overall coordination and management of VITAL LANDSCAPES.
On 20-21 May 2010, the kick-off meeting took place in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt. In addition to the project partners, actors from politics, government officials/authorities, representatives from academic community and civil society also participated in the conference on Thursday (Conference agenda and partner presentations available below). Following this offical event the partnership convened in two work sessions to clarify the next steps of project implementation. On Friday afternoon the partners visited the Lower Saale Valley, which will be one of the pilot regions within VITAL LANDSCAPES.
